Probiotics: Get your gut right

Probiotics are bacteria that help maintain the natural balance of organisms (microflora) in your intestines. The normal digestive tract contains about 400 different types of probiotic bacteria that reduce the growth of harmful bacteria and promote a healthy gut. The largest group of probiotic bacteria in the intestine is lactic acid bacteria, of which Lactobacillus acidophilus, found in yogurt with live cultures, is the best known. Another popular probiotic is Bifidobacterium bifidum.

It has been suggested that probiotics be used to treat problems in the stomach. But only certain types of bacteria or yeast have been shown to work in the digestive tract. Using a probiotic supplement as part of your weight loss program can be very beneficial in reaching your goals.

Our bodies are constantly bombarded with harmful toxins, chemicals, artificial ingredients and flat out crappy food. Your gut like most peoples is blocked up with nasty chemicals and undigested food. Probiotics help clean out all the negative bacteria found in your intestine by introducing healthy live probiotics into the equation.

I struggled with my weight for several years and tried hundreds of different weight loss pills with minimal results. I just figured my body didn’t respond to the ingredients like other people. I was complaining to my boyfriend about my lackluster results and he told me it wasn’t my fault, it was my stomach!

He explained that all the bad eating I did years ago was still messing up the way my stomach processed food and supplements. It made sense but I had to see for myself.

I did my research and found a high quality product that included (Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium bifidum), don’t even bother trying to pronounce those words haha. I took it for about 3 weeks without anything else added and the results blew my mind.

Within the first couple days I could feel my stomach becoming more relaxed than usual and my regularity was much better than before. It also killed the bloated and gassy feeling I got after eating. Plain and simple it made my whole digestive system operate smoothly and correctly (even after a few cheat meals!).

So after about 1 month of taking my probiotic I decided to try another weight loss pill and see if the results were any better. It worked.

I usually would only see results from diet pills after about 2 weeks of taking A LOT of pills. This time I averaged about 2 pounds a week starting from week one. I could tell the pills were working better and digesting completely because I found myself needing smaller doses to get the same results I did with mega doses. I was able to keep losing weight on just half of the recommended dose. It was great. I decided to go ahead and just stay on the probiotic because it made my stomach feel better all by itself. Give probiotics a shot and see if it aides in your weight loss efforts like it did mine.

Remember that a good diet makes all supplements work better!
